I mean, really?

Two things:

Thing one: I was watching "VH1 for oldies" on whatever three digit channel it's on, and they were showing Ray Parker, Jrs. 1984 classic, "Ghostbusters."

If you haven't seen the video, or you've only seen pieces of it on "I love the 80s," you're missing something that so fully encapsulates 1984 it's shocking. The video has our beloved Ray skulking through a neon lined house inhabited by a blonde in tiny Victoria's Secret outfit. Interspersed with that are "cameos" of "celebrities" singing the chorus that is, surprisingly, "Ghost-Busters!" I now present to you a partial list of the celebrities from 1984:

  • John Candy
  • - OK, fair enough. He was friend with the cast.
  • Melissa Gilbert
  • - Um, OK.
  • Jeffrey Tambor
  • - Well, he's big now, so...
  • Teri Garr
  • - A tad random.
  • Danny Devito
  • - Ubiquitous throughout the 80s, so no surprise here.
  • Carly Simon
  • - I don't remember, when did Working Girl come out?
  • Al Franken
  • - Whaaaaaaa?
  • Irene Cara
  • - OK, Fame was 4 years ago. But this was her comeback?

Thing the second: How can I be expected to work with someone in close quarters who tells me over lunch that she suffers from "Broadway Tourettes."

Seriously, who says that?
