Things that don't equal \"leadership\"

Bush declares Katrina prayer day

US President George W Bush has declared Friday 16 September a national day of prayer and remembrance for the victims of Hurricane Katrina.

[...]

Some 25,000 body bags are being sent to the city, where thousands are feared dead.

If I were a Katrina victim, or had a friend or family member missing or dead, I would tell Bush he could stuff his prayers in a sack. Although there would be much more profanity and violence.

As the world has gotten angrier at this "What, me worry?" administration, there's been more talk from Bush apologists about how it's not the federal government's responsibility to take care of victims of things like, say, a crippling disaster, and people who think so are advocates of "big Government welfare state" and, therefore, are communist-loving gay satanists (not that there's anything wrong with that).

And if bodies weren't floating dead in the water, I might just smack people like that upside the head. And then, I'd ask them just what the fuck FEMA was for, if not for FEDERAL AID in the face of an EMERGENCY. It is, after all, the FEDERAL government that has all the big ships and the power and money to mobilize efforts on a grand scale.

And the big government thing? Who's the president who created that fabulous new money pit called "Homeland Security?" How secure do you think Louisiana has felt recently?

You know, Jon Stewart says it a lot better than I can.

And Cheney should absolutely go FUCK HIMSELF.
